Do I need Morse code?
No. Morse code is not required for any amateur radio license in the United States. All current FCC license exams are written exams only.
What does the exam cost?
The exam fee is typically around $15, paid to the Volunteer Examiner (VE) team on test day. After you pass, the FCC currently charges a $35 license application fee paid online.
How long does it take?
Most people prepare for the Technician license in a few weeks, depending on study time. The exam takes about 30 minutes, and your call sign is usually issued within a few days after passing.
Don’t worry — you don’t have to do this alone.
Glades County ARES is here to help you every step of the way.
